I’m Hongly or Yves, a multi-cultural interaction and service designer who grew up between Cambodia and Thailand, shaped by experiences living, studying, working, and creating across Southeast Asia. My practice often sits somewhere between culture, community, technology, and the occasional emotional crisis inside a Figma file.

‍

I’m interested in how design can help overlooked stories, places, and communities become more visible without turning them into something overly polished or disconnected from real life. Through cultural projects involving digitizing mural paintings, local oral archives, storytelling, and community-based experiences, I’ve been exploring how design can preserve memory, question dominant narratives, and give everyday spaces a stronger voice.

‍

I believe meaningful design begins with deep listening, critical questioning, and the patience to understand complexity before trying to solve it. Coming from a Southeast Asian context, I’m especially drawn to design that engages with local knowledge, cultural identity, and the realities of communities that are often left outside mainstream conversations.

‍

Through ResFut, I hope to expand my practice in socially engaged design and explore how design can respond to complex challenges with more care, imagination, and responsibility. Outside of work, I’m probably angrily lifting embarrassingly lightweights dumbbells at the gym, swimming, hunting for local stories (and gossip), listening to and writing something spooky, or bringing a little gay drama into everyday life. I’m excited to meet everyone, learn from different perspectives, and bring a little curiosity, humor, and thoughtful chaos into the program.
