Beenish Sarfaraz
I’m Beenish from Karachi, Pakistan. I use inquiry and play as her method of research (& existence). As an interdisciplinary practitioner, I contribute through visual arts, design, and socially engaged interventions. My work is rooted in cultural storytelling, health and the environment, and arts-based education. As a designer, I’m driven by the joy of meaningful impact, which has led me to animate my city through public art festivals, activate community spaces, and collaborate with organisations committed to positive change.I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design from Department of Visual Studies, University of Karachi and I received documentary filmmaking training through a fellowship by the Scottish Documentary Institute and SOC Films.
I’m especially passionate about telling stories of women who are creating ripples of beauty, strength, and transformation in the world. I’ve been a research fellow at Planet Reimagined that allowed me to deeply study and document the health of rivers and communities. At Response_Able Futures, I’m excited to reimagine approaches to health and wellbeing by bringing lessons from my culture and combining them with learnings from others to co-create creative and inclusive solutions.
